Micro-Needling

Micro-needling is a skin-rejuvenating procedure also known by  collagen induction therapy in which tiny needles create punctures in the top layer of skin with the goal of improving overall texture and appearance.  During the process a numbing cream is applied first, then the needles are moved across the skin using a small handheld device.

Micro-needling is relatively risk-free and can have real benefits for your skin. Micro-needling treatment basically induces collagen into the skin in order to improve damage caused by aging, acne, sun damage and more. Micro-needling significantly improve the skin’s ability to absorb topical treatments.  According to some research findings, the skin has been shown to respond favorably to micro-needling. The result is smoother, firmer, more even-looking skin, works well and is long-lasting  by promoting collagen growth.

The Skin Needling Procedure

Prior to starting the skin needling procedure the skin is numbed with a topical anesthetic in order to prevent pain and discomfort. Once the local block has been applied,  practitioner will then roll the micro-needles device over the client’s skin.  This process will cause tiny puncture injuries in the outer layer of the skin and this will cause the skin to produce new collagen. This process however, will not leave any scars or bruising.

What to expect after the treatment

Upon completion of the procedure there will be a slight redness of the skin and the skin will also feel tight and slightly sensitive to the touch. Most of this irritation will dissipate within a couple of hours and the area should be completely healed within twenty-four hours. Three days later, no one will be able to tell that you just had a procedure.

After doing this treatment, clients typically begin to see results within six to eight weeks and these results can last up to one year. Although significant improvement to the skin can be achieved through just one session, it is generally recommended that clients do a course of three sessions at a six to eight week interval in order to achieve the very best results. Finally, it is also recommended that patients follows a skin care routine at home in between their micro-needling treatments as this will help to enhance and maintain the results of the procedure.
